Fitness Motivation – How to Finally Motivate Yourself to Get in Shape and Lose Weight
If you can’t get the scale to budge no matter what you do with regard to diet and exercise, you may want to try an electronic gadget to help you lose that weight and keep it off for good. Like you, I’ve looked at those electronic trackers, but always thought they were too expensive. For instance, the device used on the Biggest Loser, called the Body Bugg, costs about $250 with one year access to the web site (which is renewable at the end of the year) where your calories expended are tracked.
Enter the FitBit, a device that I’ve been looking at it since I first heard about it last year. About the size of your pinky finger, it tracks calories day and night.
More than just a fitness motivation tool (and that’s precisely what these devices do: show you what you’re doing well and inspire you to do more of that), the FitBit tracks calories expended, steps taken, miles traveled, the time you went to bed, how long it took you to fall asleep and how many times you awakened during the night. Since excess cortisol production can prevent you from losing weight and getting a good night’s sleep can decrease cortisol, your sleeping patterns are an important factor in your weight loss.
Unlike those other fitness trackers that you wear strapped around your arm (that make it obvious to others that you’re trying to lose weight), the Fitbit is tiny and can even be worn clipped to your bra or underpants. Costing just $99, it is half the cost of the other trackers and with its slim profile, it is a perfect companion to your fitness goals. Like the other fitness motivation tools, you track all your data on their web site.
The reason that devices like this are such great motivators is that once you see your numbers in black and white, you’ll be inspired to reduce caloric consumption, walk more or do more strenuous exercise to learn exactly what makes your body build muscle and release the fat.
