Elizabeth Gilbert – Eat Pray Love – What’s the Big Deal about Her & Oprah?

A couple of years ago, I read the book by Elizabeth Gilbert: Eat Pray Love. I found out about the book because Oprah Winfrey had raved about it on her television show. And everybody knows that when Oprah identifies with something, it instantly becomes a best seller. Although I did like some portions of the book and thought the language was beautiful, I did not identify with Elizabeth Gilbert at all. After all, how many women have the resources to leave their husbands (and children which author Elizabeth Gilbert does not even have) and travel around the world for an entire year in search of herself? C’mon. Was I really expected to identify with this wealthy Eat Pray Love author and champion her struggle when it has no relation whatsoever to my life?

And who is telling me that it does? Oprah Winfrey!

Who the hell is Oprah Winfrey to tell me what’s important in my life? After all, she’s so unlike the women that she caters to. A millionaire (or maybe a billionaire by now), who has never married, has no children and has no idea what it’s like to struggle financially or work full time, while raising kids, tending to a husband and trying to keep up with the laundry and the clutter that multiplies every time you turn your head. What happens to every day women—the real role models and heroines of our lives—when we start listening to women like Oprah and Elizabeth Gilbert and let them tell us what’s important? After all, these are women who have no idea about the struggles that we face.

Note: One reviewer called Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat Pray Love “a rambling memoir of self-pity.” It’s no wonder that at certain points, it bores the reader to tears.

Personally, I’m tired of Queen Oprah and her reign over what we should and shouldn’t think, buy or do. Sometimes, she’s downright superior, instead of being humbled by her incredible success. And I’m choosing not to follow the Elizabeth Gilbert – Eat Pray Love craze because for a normal woman like me, who has two teenagers, three jobs and a disabled husband who I have been taking care of for almost 25 years, the idea of running off to India is nothing more than a fantasy and a setup for disappointment.

Instead, I’m searching for real women who have struggled and made it despite the odds. Women like me, who are grappling with raising children, taking care of hearth and home, tending to husbands and trying to stay healthy and fit and find a sense of self amidst all the chaos. When I decided to stop following Elizabeth Gilbert and Oprah Winfrey, this is precisely the moment that I found Rose.

Rose Cole has a program that is not inexpensive, but doesn’t require leaving your husband and taking a year off to travel around the world. Of course, you’ll have to make the leap of faith and claim, “I’m worth it!” in order to sign up for her program. This means you’ll have to make a real investment in yourself.

The Program is called the Powerful Women Powwow and this past week, I’ve been listening to Rose’s free High Priestess training calls and I wanted to let you know about the incredible program that she is about to kick off in September. Rose is an incredibly spiritual, super intuitive, holistic nutritionist and successful business woman who started her life in poverty. She is doing free hour long calls in order to find the right women who are ready to take her program.

Rose Cole as photographed by Christina MorassiBest of all, Rose is just like you and me. She is a woman who has struggled with real life issues and learned the strategies and techniques to bring abundance to all areas of life. (You won’t want to miss the call that she is doing tomorrow on Manifesting. (Just click on the link above for the High Priestess training calls to sign up to listen. You can also listen to the prerecorded calls if you can’t make them live.)

So, “What is the Powerful Woman Powwow,” you ask?

Allow me to explain. Rose is conducting a three-month coaching program that–get this–includes a 3-day holistic living luxury retreat in Santa Monica, CA, where you get to work with Rose one-on-one! What a perfect retreat for the woman who is always on the go, but can’t take a year off to spend away from her family. What a great gift to give yourself. And if you’re a man who is reading this, what a great way to honor your woman.

This program is exclusively for spiritually conscious women who are ready to take their lives to the next level and want to create positive change for the planet and become role models for other women. It is also doable, unlike the Elizabeth Gilbert Eat Pray Love craze which is just a memoir, not a how-to book.

Don’t stop reading yet because it gets better.

During the retreat, all of your meals are designed by Rose and completely organic. You get things like a 10-day detox kit, blood work, hormone testing, and stress level tests…. You get to do shamanic breathwork sessions, a Human Design Reading (a roadmap to what
your purpose, learnings, and highest potential are this lifetime), and a photo shoot with Christina Morassi who is a “shamanic photographer: – way cool (see the photo that she took of Rose on this page). I’ve never heard of any program like it. (Personally, I am looking forward to getting my hormonal levels in balance because after years of being a caretaker, my hormones have bottomed out.) This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for regular women like you and me to get our lives back and start operating in our Zone of Genius. So sign up and join me at this program.

The last time Rose held her Powerful Woman Powwow women flew in from all over the world to work with her and they’re still raving about their experience. I’ve talked with a few of them and keep hearing words like, “I’m in the best physical and spiritual state ever in my life and in the past year, my business has really taken off.”

Since no doubt you’re a hip, spiritually conscious warrioress yourself, ready to make change happen and manifest your dream life, I know that you’d be perfect for this program. Plus, you’ll get to meet and hang out with other super conscious, cool women who “get it.” And to be honest, I’ve come to believe that more than any other factor, the kind of people you spend your time with is the most important influence in creating lasting change. (This is why I hang with Rose. In fact, I had my free hour-long call with her yesterday and came away with some life-changing insights and the program hasn’t even started yet.)

So choose not to follow Elizabeth Gilbert Eat Pray Love and Oprah Winfrey, who are nothing like you and me. Instead, choose your role models wisely. Choose regular women just like you who are already walking the path that you’d like to walk. Above all, take the leap of faith that tells the universe that you believe in your worth and that you can have a bigger, better, more fulfilling life that is abundant beyond all measure.

Check Rose out. In the very least, sign up to listen to her High Priestess training calls and take advantage of the 1-hour sessions for free (usually $600) so you can see how she will work with you, but only for the next 9 women because she’s about to depart on her honeymoon, so act fast on this chance to speak with a woman who really knows her stuff.

Oh! And … if you sign up for the program before August 17, (i.e. honeymoon departure) you get a big discount. Check the site because I just did and it looks like the discount is still up there even though the deadline is past. Even if you don’t get the discount, you’ll be making a huge investment in yourself that will pay dividends throughout your life.

  1. Bravo! I’m so glad I’m not the only one that has had these same thoughts. I’d much rather learn and grow from someone that is authentic about their struggles and has truly transformed their own life. Thanks for sharing!
